（七）

子游問(wèn)孝。子曰：“今之孝者，是謂能養(yǎng)。至于犬馬，皆能有養(yǎng)，不敬，何以別乎？”

A disciple of Confucius asked him the question as the above. Confucius answered, “The duty of a good son nowadays means only to be able to support his parents. But you also keep your dogs and horses alive. If there is no feeling of love and respect, where is the difference?”

譯文：

孔子的學(xué)生子游向孔子請(qǐng)教什么是孝道?？鬃诱f(shuō)：“如今所謂的孝，只是說(shuō)能夠贍養(yǎng)父母就足夠了。然而犬馬也能夠得到飼養(yǎng)。如果對(duì)父母不恭敬的話(huà)，那么贍養(yǎng)父母與飼養(yǎng)犬馬有什么區(qū)別呢？“
